Mr T has a slight obsession with Mickey Mouse. He spotted this fabric in the remnant bin at Joann’s and had to have it. He carried it all over Joann’s so proud of it. He even told the cashier, “My mom is going to make me something.” I knew just what to make with it, The Sycamore Shorts from Sew Like My Mom.
This pattern is a free download over at Riley Blake Designs. This pattern comes in 9 sizes, 12 months – 9 years and in a boy and girl style. I just love the pockets on these and they are a great design detail. I downloaded it the day it was available, but I hadn’t used it yet. I am going to be on the hunt for more cute boy fabric so I can make more of these.
These shorts were very easy to make. From cutting them out to finishing them up, it took me only about an hour to complete them. The genius is in the way Melissa has you iron your hem and waist band before sewing. I will be doing this on all my shorts from now on.
To complete this outfit I used one of Mr T’s long sleeve shirts that will be too small this Fall and turned it into a super cute tank top. This took me about 20 minutes and I just used one of his tank tops as a pattern for this one. This outfit is an all around winner. Miss G has already asked me if I can make her a Minnie Mouse version.
